About this free random phone number generator
A phone number generator creates phone numbers that follow the pattern you choose. Ours lets you decide how every number begins, how many random digits follow, and how the finished list is laid out, so you get data that looks the way your project needs it to look.
How the generator works
You supply a starting number, which can be a country code, a local prefix or any longer beginning. You then choose the remaining numbers, from 1 to 10 digits, and the tool adds that many random digits to the end. Digits are drawn with your browser's secure random number source, so every digit from 0 to 9 is equally likely. A live preview shows two sample results before you generate anything.
| Starting number | Remaining digits | Example result |
|---|---|---|
+1 | 7 | +14829136 |
+44 | 10 | +447203918465 |
+92 | 10 | +923314829165 |
0800 | 6 | 0800482913 |
Results are different every time you generate, so the examples above only show the pattern.
What people use it for
- Testing forms and validation. Check that a sign-up or checkout form accepts and rejects the right phone formats.
- Demo and seed data. Fill a database, a spreadsheet or a design mock-up with believable sample numbers.
- QA and automation. Create hundreds of unique values for load tests and automated scripts.
- Teaching and practice. Give students numbers to clean, sort and format.
Choosing your output format
Put each number on its own line for spreadsheets and scripts, separate them with commas for CSV style lists, use spaces for quick pasting, or choose a custom separator: one character of your choice, such as a dash, a colon or a letter. You can switch format after generating and the list updates straight away.
Tips for realistic test data
- Start with the right country code and keep the total length realistic. Phone numbers never exceed 15 digits, and the usual length differs between countries.
- Remember that random numbers can belong to real people. When a demo or a film script must never reach anyone, use ranges that are reserved for fiction, such as 555-0100 to 555-0199 in the United States and Canada, or the 07700 900000 to 07700 900999 range set aside for drama use in the United Kingdom.
- Fewer remaining digits mean fewer possible numbers. One remaining digit can only produce ten different results.
Use generated numbers responsibly
This tool is for testing, development and learning. Do not use generated numbers to call, text or otherwise contact people, and do not use them to impersonate anyone or to deceive. Messaging unknown people is unwelcome and is against the law in many places.
